Joyce Rintoul's Gallery

Joyce's background is not in the arts.  She retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after a 24-year career.  She worked as a physician’s assistant with a subspecialty as an ophthalmology technician.  She started painting by attending an evening class at a local high school. Her instructor believed that anyone could paint if they did not allow themselves to become overwhelmed by their impression of what the final outcome should be. To paint one section at a time, rather than to try to do everything at once.

Joyce paints predominantly in oils using reference photos. She is inspired by and enjoys painting the beauty and serenity of nature whether it be a flower, bird, animal or landscape.
