ABOUT THE ARTIST
Working primarily in watercolour and acrylics, I particularly enjoy painting landscapes, flowers and subjects found in nature. My intent is to create a mood, or express my feelings about, or impression of my subject matter, rather than to execute an exact replica of what is before me. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to develop my artistic expression through taking courses offered by the PUC, BealArt and Western University. Since retiring from teaching a number of years ago, I have renewed my lifelong interest in art and continue to develop my painting skills through attending workshops offered by art clubs to which I belong - the Gallery Painting Group, which focuses on plein air painting at various locations throughout London and surrounding region, the Brush and Palette Club and the Lambeth Art Association. I participate in their annual shows, and on several occasions have received a Judge’s Choice ribbon for one of my paintings. More recently, I have also become a member of the Nine Fine Artists Group. I have taken watercolour classes with local artist Hilda Markson Gray and enjoy regularly painting with a group of artists under the mentorship of artist Kim Harrison.
